Novia Shih-Shan Chen has an MFA degree in Film Production from Ohio University and a BFA degree in Drama and Theater from National Taiwan University. Novia is an award-winning filmmaker and has worked as a film and video instructor in the U.S., Canada, and Taiwan. Her short films, Evelyn (2008) and Now He is a She (2010), have screened at several international film festivals from the U.S., South Korea, Taiwan, to France. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in the Department of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies at Simon Fraser University. Aside from writing, she also teaches in the Asian Studies Program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University and serves on the programming committee for the Vancouver Queer Film Festival.
